I want students to engage literature, film, essay writing, and theological reflection with enthusiasm. For that reason, my teaching emphasizes creative collaborative activities and lively class discussion rather than lecture. I would much rather hear students develop and exchange their ideas about a given topic than do most of the talking myself.

Definitely the students鈥攖heir Midwestern friendliness, their genuine interest in learning (sometimes aided by a little prodding), and their ability to make me laugh.
